About the designer: Dorothy Amin
Dorothy Amin’s desire to design was cultivated in a costume design class at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, in her native city of Dallas, TX. The youngest of three and the only girl, Dorothy went the opposite direction of her Los Angelenos brothers and migrated to New York City after high school to pursue her degree at the one and only, Parsons the New School for Design.
During her undergraduate education, she took advantage of the opportunity to study abroad in Italy, crediting that experience with igniting her ambition to make it in the fashion industry. Upon returning to New York City, Dorothy gained the invaluable experience of working at Nike, VH1, and Allure magazine.
With the completion of her bachelor’s degree, Dorothy returned to her beloved hometown, and started a design and construction company. During that time, she attended the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University, and received a Master of Science in Entrepreneurship.
Dorothy continues to impact the community as an advocate for women's rights and equality for all through her membership in the Junior League of Dallas and the Genesis Women's Shelter.
November 30, 2013, Dorothy lived out one of her worst nightmares when her father died from a brief fight with cancer. Realizing just how short life could be at that moment, Dorothy decided to quell this nightmare by enacting a dream. That dream would become the beginning of NūLeos, launched publicly November 30, 2014.
